It's out. Anvil CSG 1.0 is on the Unity Asset Store.
Get Anvil CSG on the Asset Store
Right now it's 30% off: €12.87 instead of €18.39. The store shows the price in your own currency. I promised the testers it would be cheap, and it is.
What's in it
Everything from the betas, plus a lot more:
- Brush editing the Hammer way. Draw boxes, wedges, cylinders, stairs, arches and more in the top, front and side views. Shape them with Clip, Carve, Hollow and Bevel, or edit faces, edges and vertices.
- Materials on faces. Paint them on, line up the textures, and turn on Texture Lock so they stay put when you move things.
- Terrain. Mesh terrain you can sculpt, paint with up to 8 layers and cover with grass, rocks and trees.
- Decals that wrap around corners and stay stuck to their brush.
- Reusable brush prefabs. Turn a finished piece into a prefab and place linked copies.
- Level optimization. Merge areas, remove faces the player can never see, and bake occlusion culling.
- Local Build Area, so you can test one part of a big map without building all of it.
- Recovery snapshots in case something goes wrong.
- Bakery support if you bake your lighting with Bakery.
Your brushes stay in the scene, and Build Map turns them into normal Unity meshes with collision and lightmap UVs. Want to move a wall? Move it and build again.
What you need
- Unity 6.3. Version 1.0 was made and tested on 6000.3.15. The store page lists the supported versions.
- The Built-in render pipeline or URP. HDRP isn't supported.
Thank you
Anvil started as a rough tool I only used for my own greyboxing. The people who tested it on Discord reshaped pretty much all of it, and this release is as much theirs as mine. Thank you.
If you run into a bug or have a question, come say hi on Discord. And if Anvil helps you build something, a review on the Asset Store helps a lot.
