FAQ

Which Unity version do I need?

Beta 2 needs Unity 6.3 (tested on 6000.3.10f1). The upcoming paid version is planned for Unity 6.0 to 6.7. Check the version range on its Asset Store page when it's out.

Does it work with URP or HDRP?

Anvil CSG works with the Built-in render pipeline and URP. HDRP isn't supported.

Can I use it in a commercial game?

Yes, Beta 2 can be used in your games, commercial ones too. Put "Made with AnvilCSG" in your game's credits or the docs that come with it. No splash screen or watermark needed. You can't modify, repackage, sell or redistribute Anvil's code as a tool, and it isn't open source. The full terms are in LICENSE.md in the download.

How is it different from ProBuilder?

Anvil CSG is a brush workflow, like Hammer or TrenchBroom. You build levels from convex brushes and shape them with clip, carve and hollow, plus face, edge and vertex tools, while you work in top, front and side views next to the 3D view. Your map stays editable as brushes, and a Build Map step turns it into the output your game uses.

What does Build Map make?

It turns your brushes into regular Unity meshes. The editable brush map stays in your project as the source, so you can keep changing it and build again.

Does it work on Windows, Linux and Mac?

The full version works on Windows and Linux. Mac isn't confirmed yet. In Beta 2 the bundled lightmap UV plugin (xatlas) is Windows only.

Will my Beta 2 levels work in the paid version?

That isn't promised. Beta 2 is an older free preview, and it doesn't include a licence or a free upgrade for the paid version.

Is it free? What will the full version cost?

Beta 2 is free. The full version is coming to the Unity Asset Store for $20, with a launch price of $14 for the first two weeks. There's no launch date yet.

Where do I get help or report a bug?

On the Discord. The documentation and the tutorial video cover the basics. Beta 2 doesn't come with support, so bugs in that old build may not get fixed.
